News :: 15MR: Premium Booster
Hello all and welcome to another 15-Minute Review! Today’s application is Premium Booster—an application for optimizing your system in a little different way than other packages.
As Giveaway of the Day states:
“Premium Booster is a powerful optimization toolkit with a set of unique features. It will scan your PC for problems and repair found issues which may be hindering your Windows performance.
Your Windows may not be happy from all the garbage that various programs leave in your system. You may be irritated by error messages which appear as a result of incorrect data in registry and your Windows may operate slower than ever before. You can ignore these errors, but such inactivity may lead to a system failure one day. The task of Premium Booster is to take care of your system and make sure such day never comes. Thats why it will diagnose your system and fix found problems keeping your Windows alive and enhancing its speed. Premium Booster will also protect you from malware programs which can be dangerous for your PC.
Premium Booster will rejuvinate your Windows increasing its performance, so that you’ll quickly notice the results. The program is both easy and safe to use and doesn’t require any specific skills to achieve good results.
Notable Features
- Registry backup service
- Registry fixing
- Registry defragmentation
- Optimizes miscellaneous features of Windows usually hidden
- Installs protection from Malware into registry
- Startup manager
Quick Pros
- First step being registry backup great
- Registry fixing that breaks down every step and part
- Registry fixing that doesn’t eat your whole registry (See top two pros)
- Defrag is pretty nice; some space clearing
- Actually speeds the system with the cleaning (Tested with Optimizations off first)
Quick Cons
- Can’t pick and choose which optimizations you want
- Seemingly childish-looking interface
- Still tinkers with registry a lot; chance of something bad going seriously wrong
- Lack of USB version or portable/professional licensing
Expansion
Not much more to be said about this application than above. The description of this application is long-winded and worded poorly in my opinion. This is essentially a registry-based application and deals strictly with registry components of the system. What it does it pretty good. It found all the lost registry entries that uninstalled apps leave, obliterates corrupted entries (Quite common with problematic ActiveX goodies which like to crash while inserting) and much more. The application, while looking a little childish, on the flipside is fairly easy to use; But be forewarned, it messes with the registry. One bad move can totally cripple your computer requiring a service call for sure at minimum, so tread lightly. I have seen quite a few people’s computers essentially need a reinstall after alternate applications have eaten the entire registry with nothing left to fix.
With myself running this, it found 893 registry issues, with almost 800 of those being registry keys pointing to files I have long uninstalled (Including old Giveaway of the Day apps.) When I defragmented my registry, there was about 20% red blocks total (I wish it gave me a percentage) and about 9% space saved. And yes, it did speed my system a decent amount, both at boot and many applications launching. Tossing in the optimizations was even better; granted I had a good portion of these already installed, it was nice to see the application offered them. My only downfall is the lack of ability to pick and choose which I wanted.
Tossing in a startup manager, Malware protecter and more which is pretty self-explanatory, this application has a lot.
Final Verdict
This application is a great little gem. I didn’t realize how much it had because the description was written for simplicity and instead oversimplified it and made it sound totally different, in my opinion. This application should be swooped up by anyone who uninstalls a lot of apps (A great gem for anyone visiting Giveaway of the Day often.) The price is very reasonable too; $26.95 for 1 computer, $46.95 for 5 computers (And higher licences as well), and then to continue getting updates, it is only $10.95 a year for 1 computer and $18.95 for 5 computers. I must stress though that as with any registry application, back it up or expect a reinstall service call if something goes ary.
